Who believes in a dumb old fairytale anyway, blurted Astrid Easter when her mother pointed to the time, shaking her head in both directions. We have a curfew around here young lady.

Parents! They say that things were different when they were younger, but they never give in to trying out anything brand new. They say we are witches, but we have to live like regular people so we don't scare anyone. It's a witches oath or something. No one ever seems to care that much about me.

My most favorite color in the world is black. That never really changes with us witches. We live in a house on the other side of the moon because the nights are longer there. You think I would have a longer curfew. A possibility of five whole more hours. Time flies when you're having fun or no fun at all.

I was planning on watching the stars through my telescope; something that's totally educational. Maybe I should have mentioned that to her. It's much safer than me hopping a pop wheely on the tech deck. I'm way too daring and it drives my mother stir crazy. If I keep on practicing, maybe one day you'll see me skating on national television.

Here comes Tabu, my pet cat. Don't let superstition fool you. If a black cat crosses your path, count to 13 and wish them good luck. There are tons of other superstitions about cats, one being that they are bewitching and highly territorial. I say that people should try kicking the habit, and not accidentally trip over the cat.

Astrid! Do you hear me talking to you. Unfortunately, that would be me.

Yes, Mom?
